Our Care
Residential home care for the frail elderly and those with dementia.
The Lodges are registered with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales and are registered to provide care for both the frail elderly and those with dementia.
The health of our residents is a priority and we have forged excellent relationships with health professionals. In the local area there is a choice of a large number of GPs who, along with the district nurses, visit the home. By consultation and the agreement of the GP, arrangements can be made for occupational therapy, physiotherapy, dental care, continence advice, eye care, dietetics and speech therapy. These services are arranged through the NHS where possible, or privately if requested by the resident.
Lodges Food and Drink
They are home cooking accredited with a number of Local Authorities, and fully comply with all the requirements of all the relevant statutory bodies. We provide care for male and female residents with physical needs and or early to mid stages of dementia. It is not our intention to care for people with particularly challenging behaviour. We offer residential care and not nursing care which is provided by the district nurses who visit at the request of the GP. Our aim is always to provide a home for life and make every effort to accommodate residents with increasing dependency and health care challenges. We will only ask a resident to be accommodated elsewhere if they require specialist nursing or EMI nursing care.
We recognise that eating is one of life’s great pleasures. We do all our own home cooking and provide an appealing, interesting, varied, nutritious menu with ample choices at all meals. Individual dietary requirements are discussed with both the resident and their families.
Snacks are available 24 hours a day so no one is ever hungry. Residents are invited to join in the menu planning and may invite a relative or friend to eat with them by prior arrangement with the registered manager.
Birthdays, anniversaries and events are celebrated with parties to which relatives and friends are invited.
We have regular visits from both the hairdresser and the chiropodist. Residents may use these services or, if they wish, appoint a person of their own choice.
To ensure the residents feel at home, there is no restriction on visiting, but the most convenient times are between 10.30am and 7.30pm.
